Representative Assembly election results January 2007
Thank you for attending the election results announcement party. :-)44 out of 68 eligible voters actually voted in the election. That is, 64.7% of all who could vote, did.
Top suggested that I make the reveal more interesting somehow, so I made this machine that will animate the vote tallies.
But first a word about the CDS voting scheme.
There were 4 factions who ran in this election: CARE, CSDF, Simplicity, and DPU
You can see them labeled on the machine.
As those of you who participated in the election know, we do not vote for only a single faction, but instead *rank* them.
The best ranked faction gets 3 points, the second best 2 points, the 3rd best 1 point, and last place gets 0 points.
This machine shows you an animation of the tally as the votes came in.
According to the Sainte-Lague method, the faction allocations are thus:
CARE, CSDF, and Simplicity gets 1 seat, and the DPU gets two seats
Now, every faction member also gets to rank the people in their faction who ran for an RA seat. The higest ranked members got the seats allocated to their faction.
The CARE seat goes to Michel Manen.
The Simplicity seat goes to Publius Crabgrass.
The CSDF seat goes to Patroklus Murakami.
The DPU seats go to: Justice Soothsayer and Claude Desmoulins.
Now, at this point, we have a problem. Justice and Claude have the same borda scores!
They are tied.
So we do not yet know who will be the next Leader of the Representative Assembly.
I think this is one of the last things that the outgoing RA will have to solve, before the next one steps in. :-)
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the elections. Let's do this again in 6 months!
